What do Blackwater Valley Runners do?
Blackwater Valley runners would like to be described as a social running club. We have around 60 members, made up of roughly equal numbers of male runners and female runners, of all standards of running, Club night is always Wednesday at 6.50pm for a quick chat, warm up, then we run at 7.15pm for as little as 4 miles or for the more serious runners up to 10 miles. On the first Wednesday of every month there is group activity where the whole club does something together so everyone can get to know each other. Occasionally we organise activities such as handicap races or reps training; please check the diary. Afterwards some runners then retire to the bar for refreshment, as some say that beer is good for building up the carbohydrates. Sunday morning 9am runs are based around the Blackwater Valley countyside and are always a little more relaxed. We jog to local beauty spots, and generally go for longer slower runs than on Wednesday nights. Blackwater Valley Runners belong to the MABAC running cross country league and enjoy these runs as members of the club, in other events runners run 5K, 10k races, half marathons, marathons, but other runners simply enjoy a nice run or jog in the countryside of Surrey or Hampshire to keep themselves fit or relieve daily stress.
25th Anniversary Party
The running club was 25 years old in Summer 2009 and to celebrate we had a party at the cricket club. All existing and previous club members and their families were invited. Everyone had a great time. You can find out more here.
